2026 Doubles Championships – Draws

Match Start Times
Players need to ensure that they are at the Harmonie German Club when your match is called. Aside from the first matches on each day, the schedule is a guide and matches in subsequent sessions may get called earlier as tables become available. We are using Poolstat’s SMS feature that will send you a message with a table allocation and a match PIN. If matches are not started within a reasonable time frame after the SMS is sent then YOU WILL BE FORFEIT.

Playing Matches
Lag for the first break and then alternate breaks. Poolstat will ask for the first player to break when starting the match. Please finalise your match in Poolstat and the results will automatically come across so that we can call the next match.

Scotch doubles format as per the weekly competition.

Dress Code
There is no strict dress code other than no tracks or similar very casual gear. There will be two streaming tables on Saturday and Sunday and these will look best if you are neat and tidy – a simple polo shirt similar to what many teams wear in the weekly comp will be fine.

Draws
The draws are published in Poolstat but updates to the date/time for rounds and the race to may need to be made, even once updates have been made in Poolstat please refer to the attached schedule for a guide of match times as it can’t take into account when a round is split over multiple timeslots.

Richard Taliaferro Award – Voting Now Open

The voting process for the 2026 Richard Taliaferro Award has now begun. The voting period will remain open for two weeks and will close at midnight on Friday 23rd October.

Voting Process
A nomination counts as one vote to the nominee. Any member may register one vote only for any one nominee by informing the ACTEBA webmaster at webadmin@acteba.com.au

The nominee achieving the highest number of votes will be announced at the ACTEBA Presentation Event, and will be presented with a memorial keepsake and a perpetual trophy (silver plate) engraved with their name and the relevant year of play.

The perpetual trophy is to be kept by the winner until its return as requested by the Vice President (or Core Executive) prior to the following Presentation event.

Volunteers Wanted – Jackpot Joker

ACTEBA is looking for volunteers to assist with the Harmonie German Club Jackpot Joker.

2026 Doubles Championships

Entries are now open for our 2026 Doubles Championships. The Championships will be held from 6pm Friday 23rd October to approx. 6pm Sunday 25th October.

This year we are running the event a little differently – it will be similar to the Singles Championships that we ran earlier in the year. All categories will be held at the Harmonie German Club and at the same time. Additional tables will brought into the venue and there will be live streaming of some tables.

Players are welcome to enter more than one category and clashes will be avoided where possible, but you may be required to choose one category over another later in the competition.

The exact race-to in each round will be determined by entry numbers.

Prize money breakdown will be determined by the final entry numbers and will be confirmed prior to play once the entries have closed.

The Championships are open to current ACTEBA members only.

We will be looking for adjudicators for the Friday night 6pm til approx 10pm, Saturday 9.30am to approx. 6pm, Sunday 9.30am to approx. 6pm. Not expecting a single person to adjudiate whole days, can break these into shifts. Let the Tournament Director know if you’re available! Email td@acteba.com.au

Richard Taliaferro Award – Nominations Open

Nominations are now open for the Richard Taliaferro Award for the 2026 seasons. Nominations will remain open for the next two weeks and will close on Wednesday 7th October. Once the nomination period has ended, nominees will be listed on the ACTEBA website and the voting process will begin. The voting period will remain open for approximately two weeks. (The date that the voting process will close will be announced once the nomination period has ended.)

Award Selection Process
During the nomination period, any current ACTEBA member may nominate any member that they believe to have consistently displayed outstanding sportsmanship over a period of at least the previous two full consecutive seasons. Note that previous winners are not eligible to be nominated – the intent of the award is that it be passed on to a new winner every year.

Australia Cup Trials – Results

2026 ACTEBA Open Over 60s – Results

Here are the results for the Over 60s trials. After 7.5 hours of play, Clive Hardisty and Phil Morton qualified for the ACT Over 60s State Team and join Mongrel and Sid who qualified from the championships earlier in the year.

Australia Cup Trials – Entries Open

Entries for the 2026 Australia Cup are now open and will close on Tuesday 15th September.

Trials will be held the weekend of 18th/19th/20th September.

There is no preferred day of play for this event. Based on last year’s entries you will play on either Saturday or Sunday but not both and we will only use the Friday night as a last resort.

There is a new selection process this year. Two teams of 6 travel to the Australia Cup and the trials will be used to determine the Top 12 players. Once that is done the ACTEBA Core will select who of those 12 play in each team.

The Australia Cup is an event that targets players who may not usually get the opportunity to play at Nationals, enabling better exposure to the pressures and quality of players from around Australia. The event is played alongside the Nationals and this year is on the Gold Coast from 18th to 28th November.

2026 ACTEBA Open Over 60s – Entries

Entries are open for the Open Over 60s category and will remain open until Thursday 10th September at 6pm.

This event is being held on the weekend of 12th/13th September.

Based on last year’s entries play is expected to be completed on a single day on Saturday 12th September, however is subject to change based on entries.

This year we also held the Over 60s State Championship earlier in the year so there are just two places remaining on the team.

The expected format is:
– Split players into two groups
– Round robin x2 for each group
– The top 2 from each group then join and have a Top 4 playoff to determine finishing order for order of team offers
