2012 State Trials: Open Singles Round 3 Groups

Hi All,

Please find attached the groups for Round 3 of the 2012 ACTEBA Open Singles State Trials.

In this round the top 32 seeds join the fray.

Please be aware that I have done my best to ensure as many people could be placed where they were requested. There were a lot of requests however, and I believe 2-3 people couldn't be placed on the day they preferred. Unfortunately for those people there is nothing that can/will be done about it now. The groups are set.

Adjudicators will hopefully be confirmed tomorrow.

Hi All,

The 2012 ACTEBA Summer Comp has finally wrapped up!

Grandfinals were played last night (11.57pm as I write this) and we have our division champions

1st Division

WINNERS: Fyshwick Tavern Embalmers!

The Embalmers took out the top prize in 1st division with a close victory 13-11 over the Labor Club Stickmen.

2nd Division

WINNERS: Kaleen Pidos

The Warriors were in form leading up to the Grand Final but the Kaleen Pidos stepped up on the night with a solid win 13-9

3rd Division

WINNERS: Page Tavern Patriots

The Patriots finished an impressive season with a well earned 13-8 Victory over the Kaleen Jets

4th Division

WINNERS: The Basement Budgie Smugglers

The Budgie Smugglers finally secured the promotion from 4th Division that they had been chasing for a number of seasons now with a tightly fought 13-10 victory over the Southern Cross Gringos

5th Division

WINNERS: Uni Pub Motley Cues

It was as tight in 5th division as it was in 1st with the Motley Cues coming out on top with a 13-11 victory over the Felt Rippers.

State Trials: 2012 Open Singles Round 1 Groups

The file linked below has been updated with confirmed venues as well as most adjudicators. The start time for all groups is 11am (venues should be open at 10.30am). The format is round robin THREE times, with the top 4 progressing to round 2. If you are unable to play, please let me know asap.

Given the arrangements teams made to accommodate ANZAC day, (thankfully we won't have to deal with that again for a while), and some results not being reported there was a slight delay in getting results out.

All but one finals match have been played. (currently being played tonight)

State Trials: 2012 Ladies Singles Top 4 Results

Congratulations to Nicole Welsh for winning her 4th ACT state singles title!

Going into the top 4 playoffs on Saturday at Kaleen, the top 4 seeds and top 4 ranked ladies were all keen to add another state title to the one or more they already had. The round robin was always going to be very competitive, and in the end there was not much between all 4 ladies, with the last frame of the last match determining who would play Nicole in the final:

Nicole beat Theresa 4-2
Theresa beat Cindy 4-2
Nicole beat Les 4-1
Cindy beat Nicole 4-3
Theresa beat Les 4-3

Well that's it for the Summer Comp's regular season.

Congratulations to the teams that made it to the finals, and commiserations to those that missed out. There were some seriously tight placings in some divisions which went down to the results of other teams to determine the top 4. Very entertaining stuff.

2012 State Trials Results: Ladies Doubles

Hi all,

Over the weekend of 17-18 March, ten ladies pairs played off for the title of ACT Ladies Doubles champions. On the Saturday, all 10 teams played a round robin, with the top 4 returning on Sunday to fight for the title. After a great weekend of pool, all at Kaleen, Cindy & Nicole once again triumphed, defeating Kathy & Theresa in the final. Congratulations to all players, and thanks to Jason Scott for adjudicating. 2012 State Trials Results: Masters

Hi all,

The 2012 Masters Championships were held during March.

Congratulations to Mongrel for winning the ACT masters title for a 3rd year in a row! He defeated Pete Smith 6-3 in the final yesterday, in a repeat of last year's GF, after Pete won a tense playoff against Kevin Harrow to make the final. This means those 3 as well as Sid Scott qualify for our masters team at this years nationals.
