2011 9-Ball Tournament
Hi all
The 9 Ball is still on this weekend at The Maram, Open on the Saturday / Sunday and Ladies on the Sunday only. Tables will be open from 10am for practice with play to start at 10.30am.
Whilst we have 12 tables at our disposal, previous years have run late into the Saturday night (We're talking 10pm here). With this in mind, be prepared to return on Sunday to complete the competition.
The format will be double elimination knockout as in previous years. We will be using the 9 ball white balls, as although we are playing on eight ball tables, the idea is to run as close to a 9 Ball game as
possible.
Any questions please call or email.

State of Origin 2010 Final Results
Southern Guns Win 2010 State of Origin Series!
Last night saw the conclusion of the State of Origin series for 2010, with the Division 1 match. The Guns went in with a four frame lead, but with two very strong teams the overall winner could have been either side.
All matches have been close this year, but this topped it. Round by round scores were 4-4, 8-8, 12-12.
Going into the fourth round the Guns only needed to win three frames to win the series. The Potters came in firing and won the first three frames, making it very tense in the Guns camp. The Guns fired back and won four of the next five frames. Potters won the final frame to end the match with a 16-16 draw.
Special mention to Edmund Chen and Michael Hazilias from the Northern Potters who both shot 4/4.
So, after 160 frames over five divisions, the final score is Southern Guns 82 - Northern Potters 78. The Guns get the State of Origin shield back after a two year break.
Congratulations to all the players for a very competitive series, and thank you to Chisholm Tavern, Labor Club, Ojo Cafe and Bar, Fyshwick Tavern and The Maram for hosting the matches.

State of Origin 2010 Update
2nd Division
In keeping with the first three matches, the 2nd division match last night was so close! The Guns came in with a two frame lead, but with two strong teams these two frames didn't necessarily mean a lot.
Progressive scores were 4-4, 8-8 and then 13-11 to the Guns after the third round (all four matches played have seen the score 13-11 to the Guns at three quarter time!).
Guns won the match 17-15, bringing the overall scores to Southern Guns 66 - Northern Potters 62.
Special mention to Cindy Blackmore from the Southern Guns who shot 4/4.
1st Division match will be played at The Maram next Wednesday (30 June), 8pm. Will the Guns keep their lead and get the shield back after two years, or will the Potters fight back and keep the shield another year? Come along and cheer on your team it what promises to be another exciting match!!

State of Origin 2010 Update
3rd Division
Going into last night's 3rd Division State of Origin match the Southern Guns held a four frame overall lead at 34 - 30.
What a close match!! Guns got off to a small lead and were 5 - 3 up after the first round. Potters brought it back to 8 - 8 at half time. In the third round the Guns managed to sneak ahead at 13-11. The Potters then took off in the last round winning five frames in a row to guarantee a draw, and got one more to win 17 - 15.
Special mention to Tim Murphy from the Southern Guns and to Jason Davis from the Northern Potters who both shot 4/4.
Overall score is now Southern Guns 49 - Northern Potters 47.
2nd Division match will be played at Fyshwick Tavern next Wednesday (23 June). Come along and cheer your side on in what promises to be another close match!

State of Origin 2010
If the matches played so far this year are any indication, it's going to be a very close year for SofO!
5th Division
Southern Guns and Northern Potters drew 16-16 after being neck and neck all match.
Special mention to Nam Ngo from the Southern Guns and Ruth Stone from the Northern Potters who both shot 4/4.
4th Division
Southern Guns defeated Northern Potters 14-18. The Guns were in front 11-5 at half time, and the Potters came back to make it only 13-11 to the Guns after the third round. What a match!
Special mention to Terry Cunningham from the Southern Guns who shot 4/4.
Southern Guns take a four frame lead into next Wednesday's 3rd Division match which will be played at Ojo Cafe & Bar. Come down and cheer for your team (and your footy team - it will be on the big screen) in what looks like it will be another tough match!

Winter Competition 2010
The Winter Competition has been pushed back a week against its original start date. Initially there was a two week break for the Nationals after Round One of the Finals. The decision to place the break there was based on the timing of the Champion of Champions tournament.
At last night's State Executive Meeting, the captains agreed that it was preferable to have the break in between the final round of the regular season and the commencement of the finals series. This means that the dates for the Winter Comp and the Champion of Champions have both been changed by one week.
The Winter Competition will now start on July 14. The calendar on the website has been updated.
Nominations for the Winter Comp are still due at next month's meeting (June 7) and the captains packs will be available at the July meeting.
Due to a couple of teams withdrawing this season, the number of teams currently registered is 41. This means there will more than likely be only 5 divisions again next season and there is a chance a team may miss out. While I will try to avoid this, I am also wary of avoiding the amount of byes we have this season. In lieu of this, no late nominations will be accepted. Please organise a practice session / bbq / tupperware party with your team in the next few weeks to get the sheet signed so you don't miss out.
(I will send out the nomination form tonight. Matt K - can you please add to the web once received?)
