Hi all,

With 40 teams, I was most impressed to receive 42 sms last night / this morning. All teams reported their result before 9am, which I think might be a record (or at least the first time that's happened for a long time).

Hi all, and welcome to a new season. I'm happy to report that all matches went ahead last night, with no forfeits (but almost one…) and most all results reported (by most captains). A reminder that every team needs to send an sms to me before 9am Thursdays or they risk not getting their bonus points on the ladder…

Hi all,

Last night, the Division 1 state of origin match was held at the Canberra Labor Club in Belconnen. Heading into the match, the score was tied up at 80 frames each, meaning whoever won the night would win the series...

A solid opening round saw the Potters lead 5-3 at the first break, a performance they matched in the 2nd and 3rd rounds to lead 15-9 with most thinking the result was now a forgone conclusion. However, the Guns rallied strongly, winning the first 4 frames of the last round to bring the score back to 15-13, before the Potters won the next 2 to clinch victory. Final score... 17-15.

A great series this year, and I think the hosting of 2 matches at the same venue on the same night was a real winner. I suspect this will happen again next year, meaning the 5 division matches will be over in 3 weeks. Bring it on I say, and GO POTTERS!

Hi all,

Apologies for the lateness of this (almost forgot to send it!) but this is now the stuff dreams are made of... Last night saw the Guns overhaul the Potters 18-14. After the Potters smashed them in div 6, the Guns have clawed their way back with 3 wins and a draw. This means the series is all tied up at 80 frames each heading into the first division match next Wed.

So hopefully all who read this (and more) will be at the Labor Club in Belconnen, 8pm next Wed night, to see the best Canberra has to offer battle it out for the shield! Come on Guns [edit: heheh]!!!

There was more than just a magnificent Blues win last night... as the Maram also hosted the second State of Origin, but this was for the ACTEBA and included matches for Divisions 3 and 4. After a win and a draw in the first two games, the Potters were looking to put the series beyond the reach of the Guns, however that was not to happen...

Div 4: Southern Guns def Northern Potters 17-15
Div 3: Southern Guns def Northern Potters 17-15

Two great matches, just as exciting as the league. After 4 matches, with 2 remaining, the total score is Northern Potters 66, Southern Guns 62. Next week sees the Division 2 match, to be held at Fyshwick Tavern. Go Potters!

Last night saw the first night of the State of Origin series for 2011. For the first time ever (I think), we held two matches at the same venue (the Basement) on the same night. The atmosphere was great, with loud support going all night and the matches were both very competitive. Results were:

Div 6: Northern Potters def Southern Guns 20-12
Div 5: Northern Potters drew with Southern Guns 16-16

Next week sees both divisions 3 and 4 play at the Maram (Wednesday, 8pm). If you're not playing, why not come down to check out the action. If you are playing, make the most of it, as this series is awesome! Go Potters!

A most impressive victory, after jumping from runner-up in 6th div last season to taking this seasons 4th div title.

- one minor premier (Mooseheads) gooooooone (ouch)!

Hi all,

After some very tense moments last night, with some teams trying their darndest to squeeze into the top 4, whilst others were desperately trying to hang onto their position and make sure they play next week, the results saw an amazing three teams make a last minute move from 5th into 4th place, being the Matildas in Div 1, Pains in Div 4 and the Uni Bombers in Div 5 (commiserations to the Snipers, Budgie Smugglers and Balls Deep All Stars). The finals start next week, with 1st playing 4th, and 2nd playing 3rd. In general, these matches will be played at the home ground of the 1st and 2nd teams, however all matches and venues will be confirmed shortly.

Please note the percentages in the ladder take into account some frame adjustments that were required due to many forfeits this season (the spreadsheet shows the ladder after round 14 before these adjustments and after, in case anyone is particularly interested).

Hi all,

Before I get into the results this week, I need to confirm a few result changes to Div 5 as a result of both Neil & Bob and the All Stars playing unregistered players. Here's what has happened:

Round 2: Neil & Bob v Balls Deep All Stars: Originally a 12 all draw remains a 12 all draw (!);
Round 3: Kickers v Neil & Bob: Originally a 13-11 win for N&B becomes a 12 all draw;
Round 4: Neil & Bob v The Maram Harlequins: Originally a 15-9 win for N&B becomes a 13-11 win for N&B;
Round 7: Neil & Bob v Mooseheads 8: Originally a 14-10 win for Mooseheads becomes a 17-7 win for the Moose.
(all other matches where an unregistered player played, they didn't win a frame!)

This should act as a stern reminder to all teams NOT to play a new player without first contacting the Tournament Director. As for whether the same thing has happened during the last month, I will update all stats before NEXT week, so if it has we can sort it out as soon as possible.

And now for the results: With 3 weeks of the regular season remaining, there's not one division where the top 4 is decided, although a couple are close. Amazingly, in 4th division, there's a mere 4 points separating the top seven teams!! Continue reading "Results: 2011 Summer Round 11" »
