Hi again,

OK, I've managed to sort things out for the divisional playoffs this weekend, apologies for the late notice. I'm not used to having to organise such events, and am finding it takes a fair amount of time and effort, so I'm not looking forward to the trials later this year lol…

Captains - please let your players know these details tonight, as whilst I have sent this to all participating players, not all of them have an email address. In the tables below, I have put brackets around players that are unable to make it, and starred the names I am yet to hear from. Everyone else should turn up - please let me know if you are now unable to be there...

The format is simple, a round robin followed by a grand final only, so you'll have to be playing well all day to win the trophy. The round robins will be as follows (depending on how many players make it):

8 or 7 players - single frame;
6 players - single frame (twice);
5 or 4 players - best of threes;
3 players only - best of fives.
After the round robin, the top 2 players will play in the GF (best of five). If a tie occurs (eg for 2nd) then a best of 2 playoff will determine positions.

The venues and times have also been sorted, with all divisions commencing at 12 noon. The tables may or may not be open prior for a bit of practice. I expect the playoffs should conclude between 3pm and 5pm. The only thing I haven't sorted yet is an adjudicator, so if someone out there wants to help (and save me a few phone calls) please let me know…

Hi again,

Last night, after waiting an extra week to play their GF, the 3rd div combatants had to wait even longer, as the match went into overtime! In the end, it was the Dickson Tradies Islanders who defeated the Chisholm Tavern Deep Pockets, with a final score of 15 - 12. Congratulations!

ps don't forget, Champion of Champions starts next week (Matt Kendrick to advise shortly) and team nominations for next season are due at the December meeting.

Please also note that ALL PERPETUAL TROPHIES must be returned at the December meeting.

Another season comes to a close, with the winners probably still celebrating and the losers still ruing missed opportunities… Special congrats to the Pains and All Stars as they came through from 3rd place, which means in the new playoff format they won 3 sudden death matches in a row, beating each of the other semi finalists to take home the trophy!

Hi all,

Amazingly, we only had 1 minor premier win their way through to the grand final last night (Felt Rippers in 5th div). In all other divisions, 2nd beat 1st. In the other semi's, only one 4th placed team managed to knock off 3rd (Concords in 3rd div). Venues for next week (all neutral) to be confirmed shortly (let me know if your team has a preference). Hi all,

Congratulations to all teams that qualified for the finals series. And don't forget the final series has changed, so it's now 1 v 2 with the winner straight into the GF, and 3 v 4 with the loser eliminated. Almost every division came down to the results from last night, and two 5th placed teams managed to squeeze into the top 4 right at the last moment (the Snipers in 1st div and the Jacks in 4th).

Please note there's a break of 3 weeks before the finals series commences, due to the Nationals. So week 1 of the finals is on Wednesday, 2nd November. Can all home teams (ie those who are listed 1st) arrange with their venue to host the finals match there, and confirm with me when this is done.
