Results: 2009 Open Singles Round 2

Hi all

Another round has been completed on our way to the 2009 ACTEBA Open Singles Champion and Open State Team qualifiers. And some interesting results occurred, with a few players surprising even themselves and others not quite hitting the balls the way they wanted...

With the top 32 seeds entering come round 3, I've always seen rounds 1 and 2 as a sort of mini tounament in itself, with 131 players playing for 32 spots. So I guess with round 3 imminent, I must thank all the players who took part in the first rounds for some entertaining days and great standard of play. The groups I saw over the two rounds were competitive and enjoyable, scary to think the play only gets better from here.

Congratulations to the qualifiers this week and thank you to the adjudicators for their time and effort.

A quick note - I will release the groups and days of play in the next day or so, however you will notice that there is one group of 9. This is because I made a slight miscalculation and wound up with 33 seeds by mistake.

Don't forget that nominations for the Summer Competition are due at the meeting tonight.
