Results: 2010 Winter Round 2

Hi all,

Results are below and attached, but given so many of you are starting to ask about the Open Doubles event, I thought I'd advise everyone of the format we're going with for this year. This is a bit of a change from previous years, and a bit more cut-throat, but this is mainly due to the record high number of teams… 82 of them!

Round 1 - 7/8 Aug: Top 2 seeds (Anthony Chia & Colin Gamble and Michael Hazilias & Rony Sood) have a bye; leaving 10 groups of 8 teams, playing a full round robin 3 times. Each team (assuming everyone turns up) will get 21 frames. The top 3 teams progress to round 2.

Round 2 - 14/15 Aug: Top 2 seeds join 30 qualifiers, leaving 4 groups of 8 teams, playing a full round robin 3 times, with the top 3 teams progressing to round 3. Each team should get 21 frames.

Round 3 - 22/23 Aug: Top 12 (and final) over 2 days. Full round robin 3 times, playing two rounds on the Sat and one on the Sun, with the top 3 teams making the playoff. Team that qualifies 1st is automatically into the final, with 2nd playing 3rd and the winner playing 1st in the state doubles final.

Open Singles spots - a reminder that anyone that made the top 16 in the Open state selection trials and was subsequently offerred a spot in the Singles event at the National Championships needs to confirm whether they are going to go... ASAP.
