Div 5 3rd Place Playoff
Hi all
Last night the Maram Concords defeated the Earls of Erindale 15-12 in a playoff for 3rd. After 14 rounds both teams had finished on equal points, and then still couldn't be separated by a playoff match, forcing a further best of 5 playoff, which the Concords duly won 3-0.
The draw for Division 5 tomorrow night now reads:
5th Division
Darcy’s Defenestraters vs Earls of Erindale @ Kaleen Tavern
Mercury Bar Quick Silvers vs The Maram Concords @ Mercury Bar
Good luck to all teams tomorrow night.
Regards

Results: 2009 Winter Round 14
Hi all
What a finish to the season! While Division 1 threw up no surprises, every other division brought about a final round that changed the finals make up.
Click to download printable ladder (Adobe PDF)
But first of all, congratulations to The Maram Rail Runners on a perfect season. 14 wins from 14 games is an outstanding effort and good luck to them in the finals series.
Div 2 saw the Pidos go down to the Stars, handing the Stars 7th after the Katz lost, plus allowing the Scorpions to grab 2nd.
The top 2 teams in 3rd division were playing for the Minor Premiership tonight, but the top 4 was so tight that the loser was a big chance of finishing 4th after dominating all year. To quote one reporting captain, “you couldn’t write this script”, the Pirates and the Crackpots drew to hold onto their top 2 spots, despite the Demons and Cougars both winning their final games and finishing a mere 1 point back, the top four finishing 26, 26, 25, 25. Can’t wait for that finals series!
4th Div saw the Deep Pockets steal a home final as the Gringos went down.
A loss to the Quick Silvers saw the Defenestraters take out div 5 by 3 points, but it came down to percentages otherwise. In fact, 3rd and 4th (Earls and Concords) finished on equal points and frames, resulting in a playoff for 3rd next Monday night.
Commiserations to the teams who missed out this season - we know you'll be hungry to get there next year. In the meantime, come down and a watch a finals match or two and cheer on your mates from the other teams.
The draw for Round One of the Finals is below, can all home captains please inform their venue of the match.
A reminder that these matches are a race to 13, no need to keep playing once a team has reached that mark. Should the match end in a draw, both team captains need to provide the other captain with a list of 5 players (in playing order) for a race to 3 playoff. These 5 players must play in the order that is given to the opposing captain. The result of the playoff is then added to the final result, i.e. if you win the playoff 3-1, the final score is 15-13. Any queries on this feel free to call me.

Hi all
Sportsbet has released a market for the 2009 Nationals, with current prices available for the Open Singles, Ladies Singles, Ladies Teams, Masters Singles and Masters Teams. Matt Harmon ($21), Nicole Welsh ($9) and Peter Smith ($31) are are lowest priced runners in each category, while the Masters Team are paying $51 and the Ladies $10 for the win. Not sure when they will have the Open Team there, but rumour is you will be able to bet on the matches as well.

Results: 2009 Winter Round 12
Hi all
Yes I know – I am putting the results out on a Thursday evening. Wonders never cease. [webmaster: additional apologies from me, was sick yesterday and could not update the site until friday afternoon]
Click to download printable ladder (Adobe PDF)
This season is wrapping up really quickly and at least you haven’t had to listen to me dribble on all season. The finals are still wide open in 4 of the divisions, with as many as 7 teams still in the running in some cases. But amazingly, the closest division for the past 3 seasons has already wrapped up their top 4, Div 2. But the battle is still on for 7th.
Big winners this week were the Screamers and the Cougars, who both recorded 18-6 wins.
Div 1 sees the Embalmers and Hammerheads safely in 1st and 2nd, but behind them the Matildas, Stickmen, Schroomptons & Cage Rattlers are all fighting it out for 3rd and 4th. A match to watch next week is the Stickmen vs the Schroomptons, with the teams currently tied 4th. In what is the tightest div 1 for a few years, the Cage Rattlers are 1 point out of the finals, but could still finish last.
Well done in Div 2 to the Snipers, who have all but sealed the minor premiership, but the Pidos, Scorpions and Filthy Wanderers are all tied for 2nd, so anything can happen there. The bottom four could all still finish in last place, so there is still everything to play for despite the top 4 being settled.
The Crackpots have grabbed a finals spot in div 2, but the Demons, Pirates, Cougars and Bombers have only 3 points separating 2nd from 5th and the run home will be tight. The Pains have a 1 point lead over the Kickers for 7th, so any result for either team will be crucial.
The Div 4 Rail Runners are showing the rest of the league how it’s done with a perfect season so far (hope I haven’t jinxed them). But their success has left the chasing pack bunched up with only 3 points separating 2nd from 6th. Way too close to call. Plus, the last two teams are equal on points in the battle to avoid relegation.
The Defenestraters and Quick Silvers have grabbed the top 2 spots in div 5, along with home finals in round 1, but 5 other teams have a chance to fill the last two spots.

2009 Open and Ladies 9 Ball
Hi all
I had intended to send you this info on the weekend, but did not have internet access, so my sincere apologies.
The Nine Ball will held this weekend at The Maram. Both days have been reserved to complete the tournament, however in recent years we have been able to finish up on the Saturday evening. This will be sorted out depening on how the day goes and how many entries we finish up with. At this point, it is more than likely going to be a one day event.
